The closest major airport is Orlando International Airport, also known as MCO or KMCO, located at a distance of 8 miles from the city center of Orlando, FL.
There are shuttle vans available, which run directly from the airport to downtown Orlando, as well as to all major tourist destinations nearby. The vans are cheaper than taxis, and it is even cheaper, if you buy a roundtrip ticket. You will only pay $10 (for person) to travel to the hotels near Orlando International Airport, and $15 to travel to downtown Orlando.
Inside the city, the public transportation service is provided by Lynx Orlando Transit Authority, commonly known as simply Lynx, which offers bus service to the downtown area, major attractions or nearby neighborhoods. The standard one-way fare is of $1.50, and a 7-day pass will only cost you $12.
If you decide to drive, while staying in Orlando, be sure to avoid getting behind the wheel during rush hour, especially on Interstate 4, between 7 to 9 am, and from 4 30 to 6 30 pm, because the traffic might ruin your day.
